Summary: Tim Allen is his usual barrel of laughs.
This is a spoof of the whole "Star Trek" experience, with Tim Allen making fun of William Shatner, the actor who goes to conventions and feeds the fan the bullshit they love and adore. His co-stars grumble and stumble through the convention, happy to have a paying job, as it appears to be the only work they can get anymore. Things go awry when an alien teleports Allen up to their ship, to have him play his role in a real starship. He doesn't believe it at first, and soon the whole team is up there fighting it out with the ugly space alien bad guys. Even the special effects are campy and goofy. It's all in good fun, and it's hard not to enjoy it.

Summary: Great sendoff of Star Trek
I ended up renting this as a double feature with the documentary 'Trekkies'-- which ended up almost being too much at once. It manages to nail just about everything funny about Star Trek, from the egotistical captain actor to the geeks that know more about the series than anyone involved in it to the weird random shit that doesn't make any sense but is there just to provide dramatic action (Sigourney Weaver's character screaming "This doesn't make any sense! Why would anyone ever put anything like this in a starship!" just slew me).

Summary: I laughed, I laughed some more, it became a part of me
It's a scream. See it. Okay, I should say more. It makes fun of a lot of things, but it's all pretty good-natured, and the effect is a laugh even if it's somewhat at your own expense (hey, I've watched a lot of Trek in my time). Very highly recommended -- best thing I saw this year. (Admittedly that says something about the year.)

Summary: I rolled on the floor and roared with laughter
This movie was just too much not to enjoy. If you've ever been to a trekky convention, you'll recognize yourself in the crowd somewhere! Tim Allen does a great job of mimicing the James T. Kirk of old and providing a "Tim the Toolman Taylor" "I can do anything" attitude along with it. If you need a good silly laugh, this is a must see.

Summary: Worth a go
Sigourney Weaver still has what it takes, if that means her uniform inexplicably disintegrates over the course of the movie. Nonetheless, it's tastefully and humorously done.

I admit having gone to Star Trek conventions in my day, but maybe I've already been exposed to too many trekkie gags.

Still, a good show, a clever concept, and even some deep belly laughs.

Summary: Howleriffic
Very incisive Star Trek and Trekkie satire. Too bad they didn't give Tim Allen a pot belly and a bad toupee.

Summary: I howled
This is a great balance between ridicule of trekkies, ridicule of TV actors, and action and comedy. I liked it from beginning to end.
