Summary: All the heroes came together well.
I was very surprised to see this movie pulled off. First they had separate movies for four of the heroes - Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America. And they introduced (barely) Black Widow and Hawkeye in Thor, and Nick Fury & SHIELD in Iron Man and Thor. So this common universe all comes together with The Avengers, and it worked. In spite of this being the third actor to play The Hulk, it still worked out great. I was very impressed. And of course Joss Whedon is almost always great and he certainly delivered big time here. The last fight scene was a bit over the top with swarms of bad guys, and the soundtrack wasn't exactly memorable, but the rest of the movie was awesome. Well done. |

Summary: Joss pulls off the rare action ensemble superhero movie combo
They gave Joss Whedon a budget, a high-powered cast, and the freedom to do the right thing with it, and we get a superhero classic for the ages. It's difficult to even find anything to criticize with this movie. |
