Summary: Lives up to the Die Hard standard.
Len Wiseman's previous movies (Underworld and its sequel) did not predict that he would be given the reigns of such a valuable franchise as the Die Hard movies. So it's quite surprising to see him pull it off so well. This movie is excellent-- practically flawless. The plot, of course, is unbelievable, and some of the computer hacker hijinks are completely absurd, but for this kind of movie, that stuff doesn't matter. In fact, one kind of expects some campy fallacies about hackers. Olyphant plays a great bad guy, and it should be interesting to see him in the Hitman movie (based on the video game series) coming out soon. Justin Long is a dead ringer for a younger Keanu Reeves in a Neo-like role as hacker gone wrong trying to redeem himself. And the small role of Kevin Smith, well, that was pure classic. Highly recommended, probably the film of the year!

Summary: A let-down for Die Hard
This just didn't feel like a Die Hard movie to me, and I watched the unrated edition off dvd instead of the theatrical edition that I'm told was severely butchered in order to get it a PG-13 rating (it's not Die Hard if Bruce Willis isn't swearing like a sailor). It's rare to see a fourth movie that's good and this one does nothing to break that trend. This was more of a disaster movie than Die Hard to me.
