Summary: Pleasant fantasy, feel-good pic. A little slow in places.
I like Kevin Spacey, I really do, he certainly brings charm to his characters. And the movie gives him a decent script. The plot of the movie is kind of stupid though, revolving around a psychiatrist and his attempts to explore the alien's psyche... it doesn't make a lot of sense.
That's the problem a lot of directors and producers have. Sci-fi needs to be consistent, it needs to make sense. |

Summary: Kevin Spacey makes this movie by himself
Kevin Spacey makes this movie all by himself. Parts of the movie don't seem to make much sense (like when he's hypnotized by the psychiatrist), but I got the impression that this was just him giving the semantic equivalent of line noise-- easier than simply refusing, or it having no effect.
Also, the concept that an advanced alien would find those that we call mentally defective more interesting than the general populace is an amusing one. |
