Summary: One exciting scene after another. | |
The movie was great, a lot of fun. J. J. Abrams, who has done wonders for Alias and Lost, does a great job here. Tom Cruise, who is generally being a real kook on talk shows, is a great actor nonetheless. The movie is full of amazing stunts, and was overall a great production. The only weaknesses were the flashforward scene at the beginning and the overall storyline. Really, I hate flashforwards. What, do they need a teaser to keep in our seats? Are they afraid we'll change the channel, or walk out of theater before seeing what happens?! Come on! As for the storyline, it's pretty absurd... no explanation of why the bad guy was so capable, and really no sign at all of the mysterious buyers for the "Rabbit's Foot". I guess that part of the plot just kind of disappears when it's no longer needed. Aside from those faults though, I'd say it's still an excellent movie.
We got to see the movie as part of a free sneak preview tied in with an APC presentation which included free cokes, popcorn, sandwiches... a pretty good deal! Interesting note: the tail end of the credits, where they're thanking various cities and organizations, the last organization listed was "The Hanso Foundation", the fictional group that created the island labs on "Lost". Spooky! Now I wish I was paying more attention in the movie to look for more Lost references. |
