Summary: Very funny football movie.
This is a quite amusing football movie based on the idea of replacement players hired to play football during a players' strike. Keanu Reeves plays the quarterback and leader of the team, and Gene Hackman does a great job as coach. In addition, there's a very large ensemble cast of wild characters that all bounce off of each to great amusement.
The football scenes are very amusing as well, and performed well-- much, much better than last year's "Any Given Sunday". And finally, the cheerleaders are a hoot, they really are. |

Summary: HE SHOOTS HE SCORES
Keanu Reeves is meant to play sensitive, semi-intelligent jocks. I'm also a sucker for any movie about a bunch of misfits triumphing. As sports movies go, this one is pretty formulaic, but some outstanding characters make it more memorable than Major League or The Bad News Bears. |
