Summary: Great special effects and adventure, lame plot.
In what felt like the umpteenth end-of-the-world apocalypse drama to prepare us for the coming of the new millennium, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in a big-budget battle between good and evil. He ends up seeking the "chosen one", a girl named Christine York (played by a very pretty Robin Tunney), who happens to be in New York City. Christ/Christine, York/New York, get it? I didn't. Gabriel Byrne plays the role of Satan, which was a riot, as he played the good guy in an apocalyptic doom film just a couple months earlier. Anyway it's got great battles, some neat effects of a subway getting crumpled up, and it's exciting enough to keep you interested. Too bad there were just too many films like this this year.
