Robocop 3 Orion B+ 11/5 5:40pm $4 Delray 10 Murphy returns for a very sequelish pic. If you liked Robocop 2, then hey, this is more of the same. Violence and futuristic weapons and technology, this flick is a bit tainted by being too cutesy. A little homeless girl computer whiz can crack anything without trying, and the bad guys have robot ninjas to fight the Robo. Still, there's much good to the film, but it's very much set into its genre. Fearless Warner Bros. A 11/6 12:35am $6.50 Mizner Park Jeff Bridges stars as a guy who survives a most deadly plane crash, and loses touch with reality. He thinks he should be dead, but can't die, and tests this again and again. Meanwhile he's trying to help another victim of the crash deal with losing her baby. Anyway, it's an excellent psychological character study, one of the most interesting films I've seen in six months or so. This one should definitely not be missed! Flesh and Bone B+ 11/10 10pm $6 Delray 10 A spooky, eerie film. Not exactly a mystery, because we know what happened right from the start. It's a little bit slow in places, but does a neat portrayal of life in the great plains of Texas. The story is about a man who goes from town to town stocking vending machines, when he meets a woman was just a baby 30 years ago when his father killed her parents and brother. The Three Musketeers Disney/Caravan A 11/12 8pm $6 Delray 10 A very merry film indeed. Kiefer Sutherland and Charlie Sheen are just two of the many fine stars of this adventure/comedy. The sets are nice, the costumes are wonderful, and of course, there's lots of fancy swordplay. Now if only they could have a string of sequels... Carlito's Way Universal B+ 11/13 7pm $6 Delray 10 Al Pacino plays a Puerto Rican (yeah, right) ex-mobster who's trying to run a club and stay clean long enough to save $75k so he can buy into a car-rental biz in the Bahamas. Of course, bads guys are always bad and get what they deserve, so he's shot in the end. Or, rather, in the beginning credits, so you know how everything ends right from the start. So, why watch? Well, Pacino is fun to watch, even tho' he is totally unconvincing as a Puerto Rican, he's a very good mobster-type. And then there's all the 70's nostalgia of discos and crime... it's an entertaining film, a little long (2.5 hours) but generally worth it. Addams Family Values B+ 11/20 9:30pm $6 Delray 10 A very sequelish sequel, the comedy is continuous throughout the film, though a little strained and tired in places. Still, it's a lot of fun. I'm beginning to fall in love with Wednesday Addams... she's *so* cute! Anyhow if you've seen the first film, this one doesn't quite live up to the original... what do you expect, when you introduce a *baby* to the cast. Sigh. A Perfect World C+ 11/25 10:00pm $6 Delray 10 Basically a big waste of time. Sure, Costner and Eastwood are good actors, but the story is bland. The direction is mediocre. The plot stumbles along to an expected finish, and while there is at times hints at something deeper, more insiduous going on, it never develops, and in the end one says "so, that's it?". If you're looking for a good character study type film, go see Fearless. Mrs. Doubtfire B+ 11/27 12:35a $6.50 Mizner Park A stupid plot, but as usual, Robin Williams carries the show, funny as he always is. He plays an estranged husband who disguises himself as a nanny in order to spend more time with his children. At times this old joke gets overused, but for the most part it's enjoyable, because, well, Robin's a funny guy.
