Operation Dumbo Drop B 8/7 7pm Secaucus An amusing tale about a veteran captain, a new captain, a supply officer, and an elephant, all trying to get along in the Vietnam War. This would have been a stupid, sappy movie if it wasn't for the good casting, which made it an intelligent, sappy movie. Mortal Kombat A 8/18 8:15pm Secaucus An exciting movie based on the video game, much like Street Fighter was. The sets are more extravagant here. The special effects are mostly done with SGI's, and are quite impressive in places. The martial arts is very good, with lots of very clever moves. The story wasn't so great... who cares about this guy and his brother and some wacky destiny. The audience really got into the film, cheering each time a recognizable character appeared on the screen. The best part of the whole thing was the soundtrack was done with high bpm techno music, which should be a great CD. Babe C 8/20 4:15pm Secaucus A story about a pig that saves itself from becomming dinner by learning how to be a great sheepdog. Due to his special rapport with the sheep, he's able to get the sheep to do amazing things. This leads to interesting talk around the farm. If it wasn't for the cute talking and singing mice, this movie would have been below average. Desperado A+ 8/25 6:45pm Secaucus This is a very intense film about a man seeking vengeance in Mexico against the druglord who killed his woman. The characterization is excellent, as are the direction and gunfights. The battles are some of the best ever put to screen. The action keeps you on the edge of your seat and blows you away. Definitely the most exciting film of the year, so far.
