The Saint A- 4/5/1997 7:30pm Secaucus Val Kilmer plays a master thief and man of many faces, able to take on several disguises in order to get into and out of any situation. As he approaches his career goal of $50M in payments, he develops a love interest with one of his victims. Meanwhile, one of his clients decides that he would be better off dead. This leads to an action-packed adventure and lots of great fun. Grosse Pointe Blank A+ 4/12/1997 7:30pm Secaucus One of the best films I've ever seen. John Cusack plays a professional killer who happens to get hired to do a job in his old hometown, at the same time his high school's ten-year reunion is about to happen. This leads to him visiting a world he left behind ten years ago, including a girlfriend he left standing at the prom. The pacing and storyline of this movie are unbelievable, and the acting is top notch. There simply hasn't been anything this well-done since The Hudsucker Proxy. The soundtrack is filled with songs from the mid-eighties, and it is fascinating to see how the various characters dealt with their teen angst and grew up, and how, in many ways, they are still the same. Go see this film. Double Team B+ 4/20/1997 3:45pm Secaucus Jean Claude Van Damme and Dennis Rodmann star in this explosive action packed adventure about a superspy who gets caught, while his arch-enemy kidnaps his pregnant wife. Rodmann plays the role of a freaky arms supplier. It's very exciting and fun to watch, just don't take it too seriously, okay? Volcano B 4/25/1997 9:30pm Edgewater Here we go, yet another disaster film, this time, we have a volcano erupting in Los Angeles. At first, the emergency response teams can't believe what is happening and have no idea to respond to the splashing lava, but then the director yells "Someone get me a scientist!" and it's the geologist of the day to the rescue. The special effects are really good most of the time, but the endless acts of bravery and human sacrifice border on the absurd (cf. Schindler's list). Still, it's not every day you get to see lava burn through everything except concrete.
