This is a movie about an unfaithful man who, after twenty years of marriage,
decides to have his wife assassinated.  Things don't quite work out though,
as the wife and the would-be assassin fall in love with each other.  Much of
the movie is not paced overly well, and there's a little too much whiny
housewife for my tastes.

Steve Martin stars in this remake of a classic comedy about a career army
sergeant that uses the military to subsidize his many schemes to get rich
and get more time off.  It's a pretty funny movie that shares the spirit
of the original.

Diabolique

This is a suspenseful thriller about a desperate wife and her evil husband
that abuses her.  She teams up with his mistress (who also despises him) to
kill him in a secret plot.  However, things go awry when the body disappears.
It's very suspenseful but not overly spectacular.

Fargo

This is a very strange film from the Coen brothers.  Supposedly based on
a true story, it's about these two criminals who are hired by an automobile
salesman to kidnap his wife so that he can get his father-in-law to pay
ransom, and thus take a cut of it.  For reasons never made clear, he is
severely in debt and acting out of desperation, and willing to risk his
wife's life in the process.  It's also about this very pregnant sheriff
from a neighboring county who investigates the crime.  The bizarre added
effect to all this is that it takes place in North Dakota and in Minnesota,
in the winter, with snow covering everything.  All the people in the movie,
with the exception of the criminals, have extremely nordic accents.  The
whole flick is truly bizarre and a bit gory in places, but while it is
very weird like Pulp Fiction, it doesn't have same stunning pacing or
soundtrack.

The Substitute

A soldier of fortune finds himself suddenly retired, so he visits his
girlfriend and finds that she is suffering violence problems at the school
where she teaches.  When she gets put into a hospital, he goes in as her
substitute teacher, to investigate the violence and undercover the plots
hidden in the high school that permit it to go on.  It's a pretty exciting
film, with lots of action/adventure.

Fear

This story is about a teenage girl who falls in love with a man who's a
bit older than the high school crowd.  He turns out to be not the sort of
guy you would introduce to Dad.  Not surprisingly, this guy turns out to
be an evil psychotic drug dealer.  Also not surprisingly, she has a male
friend in her school that she doesn't care to get involved with, as she
suffers the LJBF disease.  This movie is perfect material for the great
"Why do chicks date jerks" debate.  The best part of the film is the father,
who doesn't back down to the punk or the slightest trace of fear... he's
one tough Dad.

The Quest

This is a martial-arts movie about a contest where the best fighters from
all over the world are gathered together to compete for a gold dragon.
Jean Claude VanDamme stars as the up and coming fighter, and Roger Moore
stars as a thief who acts as his agent.  Overall, it's a pretty good and
fun movie, with many different martial arts styles represented.
