Four Weddings and a Funeral C 4/1 7:20pm Seacaucus Well, this is your average "feel-good" movie, but I dunno, it didn't hit any of my tender spots, and I didn't cry. I lauged in places, but it wasn't really all that funny. It's about, well, four weddings and a funeral, and a bunch of friends who go to all of these, and it's about marriage, and what brings it about, but it isn't realistic, nor does it feel real. As for being a fantasy, then, it's not all that unordinary, either, so... Jimmy Hollywood C 4/10 1:45pm Seacaucus Joe Pesci and Christain Slater are two very good actors, but the roles they play here are lame, lame, lame. The movie lives up to none of the hype. It's just an ordinary flick. Pesci plays a struggling actor who's never really had an acting career, trying desperately to find work. So, he makes up "Jericho", a vigilante, and makes news with it, putting himself on TV. The line between acting as a vigilante and being a vigilante gets crossed, however. Slater plays his idiot sidekick who has very few brain cells left, making his lines dull and boring. Cops and Robbersons A 4/15 9:30pm Seacaucus This is the story about a totally psycho family who just happen to be living next door to house that's been recently rented by a criminal. The police send Jack Palance and a younger officer to stake out the place, based in the family's youngest son's bedroom. The youngest son, unfortunately, being 6 or so, think he is a vampire. The housewife is an extreme housewife, and goes overboard on being the perfect housewife. Chevy Chase plays the total failure of a father, and there is the older son who is starting smoke, and cute sister who's a senior in HS and who falls in love with younger police officer. The characterization in this movie is incredible! The only weak point in the whole thing is Chase, who just doesn't have what it takes any more. Anyway, you'll laugh. Surviving the Game C+ 4/17 7:45pm Seacaucus Ice-T plays the good guy and Rutger Hauer plays the bad guy. The plot goes, homeless man acquires job as a "wilderness guide", but once in central america it turns out he's hunted game to a gang of psycho rich white men. They chase him around the wilderness, and Ice-T fights back. Only problem is, Ice-T doesn't carry the necessary machismo needed in a tough-guy kill-'em-all type of flick, so it just kinda goes. Threesome A 4/23 7:15pm Times Square This is the story of two guys and a girl who end up sharing a suite in a college dorm due to an improbable screwup. One guy is your typical jock-type who lusts after the girl who is your typical resistant type. However, she is lusting after the other guy, who is your typical guy who's questioning his own sexuality. I felt it was all very realistic, and reminded me a lot of how things usually go in college, particularly there being more guys than girls, and the guys having to make some sort of deviant compromise in order to get laid. Plus, the film gives the subject a good treatment without getting tacky, which is a great accomplishment. Unfortunately, no full frontal nudity. Bad Girls B 4/24 8pm Seacaucus Four whores go on a series of wild west adventures. Kinda like a Thelma & Louise except that I was able to understand this one. Thelma & Louise didn't make any sense at all. But this movie moved better, and wasn't overly absurd. Maybe it was the setting, one expects a certain level of violence and lawlessness in a western. But no real outstanding performances were made. No Escape A 4/29 9:30pm Seacaucus Ray Liotta stars as a prisoner who gets dumped on a prison island in the year 2022. The plot is simple; the island is divided into two groups, good prisoners and evil prisoners, and he ends up saving the good guys from the bad guys while trying to find a way off the island. The pacing is good, very action-packed, and the characters are both thrilling and humorous. The scenery is beautiful, too. This all makes for a very exciting flick, with none of the triteness and bogosity that ruins most films of this genre.
