Summary: ARRR RUM PIRATES AHOY MATEY
Almost everything you'd want in a pirate film is here. It's a rollicking great time with Johnny Depp as a pirate captain down on his luck, and his adventures with a blacksmith and a fair maiden... the special effects are great, the sound is superb, the only flaw in the whole thing was in the character of the pirate captain Jack Sparrow (Depp); sometimes, he seemed inept and hopeless; other times, he's an amazing swashbuckler. So which is it? Is he an amazingly skilled buccaneer? Or merely someone with a weird kind of luck? Aside from this inconsistency, the movie is perfect, and I highly recommend going to see it. |

Summary: Nice ride | |
Johnny Depp plays Hunter S. Pirate, er, Capt. Jack Sparrow, and Orlando Bloom proves that he can play someone other than a Wood-Elf. Good CGI, but we've all come to expect that in big action movies nowadays. A good movie, and worth seeing in the theater, but I'm just not inspired to write a lot about it. I'm still waiting for the amazing movie that I can give an A+ to, which is looking like it won't be until Return of the King. |

Summary: Swashbuckling Summer fun
High spirited, swashbuckling fun. Great performances from Geoffrey Rush and especially from Johnny Depp in a wonderfully quirky performance (was he channeling Keith Richards?) Orlando Blooms character is a bit dull, and the story perhaps a bit silly but it doesn't really matter. My companion thought it was th e "best pirate movie he ever saw" |
