Summary: The Movie of the Year for 1998!
This is the best vampire movie I've ever seen. No poseurs and no romances, this one flies fast and furious like a Hong Kong martial arts flick. Wesley Snipes is one hell of an action movie star, I hope we see a lot more of him. The bad guys are great, in a smart-aleck way. Plus, the use of technology is also interesting, for both the vampires and the vampire-hunters. The soundtrack was excellent, with great techno music delivering a fast-paced beat to match the high speed and intensity of the film. It turns out that the movie was made by Snipes's company, Amen Ra, which is their second film. Their first film was The Big Hit, which was the best film of the year until this one. Also stars Stephen Dorff and Traci Lords.

Summary: Send. More. Vampires.
I like vampire movies. I liked Blade, too. Not the most (sorry, Xibo), but I liked it. I've seen it more than once (the first time I've typed this on this site, I think) and I'd see it again. Watch it. Turn the volume way up, why not? Don't take it seriously -- it certainly didn't take itself very seriously.

Summary: Wall to wall ass-kicking
A fun, fairly mindless movie that doesn't let things like plot get in the way of the action. Plus lots of dorky goth vampires get killed, so how bad could it be?

Summary: Not Enough Fighting
Okay, who gives a shit about what passes for a plot/background? Sure, it made the comic books interesting, but we don't want to see that in a movie. It isn't The Dark Knight. Laboratory stuff and angst-ridden confessions are unnecessary.
What we want is more fighting, scary vampires doing freak-ass things (no, dancing in blood sprinklers does not count), more fighting, and more scary vampires. Fighting. The fighting was good or I wouldn't be wanting more fighting, and the vampires were scary but not scary enough. Why not go WHOLE HOG on scary fighting vampires?

This movie wanted to be the Crow but failed, basically.

Summary: who cleans up all the blood?
What I want to know is, when you have blood coming out of the fire sprinklers, does it clog them later? Who cleans it up? If I were a queen ant I would instruct my forces to be ready to rush in and go nuts as soon as those wacky vampires cleared out. The worst thing about this movie wasn't the film - it was all the parents who brought they 5 year olds to see it. $7 for the ticket, thousands for therapy. The movie was fun but dumb.

Summary: not too shabby gorefest
Wesley Snipes, though somewhat erratic in choice of movies, has turned into one of Hollywood's best action heroes. This movie showcases him fairly well, with decent visuals.
