It seems that throughout the viewing population there are three types of response to this movie. They either hate it, they love it, or they find the crude slapstick moments funny and ignore the rest.
I imagine that student humour will sit best with this film, because Oedekirk persues the type of silliness that every student has done sitting in front of old dubbed martial arts films, filling in the words with stupid jokes. Alot of this film makes you raise your eyebrows until you risk losing them altogether, and there are a few genuinely laugh-out-loud moments to be had. Sometimes it seems to drag on, despite being quite short, but Oedekirk wisely kept it to eighty minutes or so.
There are certain moments in this film which have left me gasping with laughter every time they spring to mind, and that to me is the type of comedy film that really deserves credit. It also seems that Oedekirk has put his all into the DVD release, there are tons of extras and a real enthusiasm evident within that.
(and i may add that Steve Oedekirk's body makes it no chore to watch this film either >smiles sweetly<)
