Summary: An amazing action flick! John Woo rocks!
I've read that this film had some major editing done on it, partly to get a PG-13 rating, partly because of faults in the film. Either way, it was a superb editing job, and the end result is an amazing two-hour action flick. There's some lulls in the middle but the last half hour is nonstop action, fights, shootout, motorcycle chases, and more fights. Oh yes, and explosions, I love explosions. The movie is almost all Tom Cruise; everyone else seems to stand around helpless. The sound (in my theater anyway) was cranked up to 11, so all the explosions and gunshots were pretty damn loud. One almost wonders if Cruise is going to develop Mission: Impossible into a huge franchise like the James Bond films; the two are similar.

Summary: Where's the substance?
Some nice and some really good action scenes fettered throughout an otherwise piss-awful story. Wait for it to come to cable. That story was so not believable. Tom Cruise had too many close-ups. And the leading lady needed to show a little more independence. Blech. B- it generous.
