Summary: Computer generated tornados and flying cows, oh my.
This movie has stunning special effects as tornados are created, with debris, cars, and even houses are thrown around. Unfortunately in many places it gets completely unbelieveable, as people are able to outrun tornados, with only a light breeze in their hair while winds over 150mph are in the tornado only a few hundred feet behind them. Plus, the hangtime of some of the cars is completely beyond belief. The lighting is also questionable. Other than all that, it's pretty stunning and suspenseful, worth watching.

Twister is one excellent movie, those who have seen it are sure to agree with me. The special FX are just great. The twisters are really awesome. Trust me, this movie is outrageous!

Summary: Weather geeks will be somewhat disappointed, but others might enjoy
The computer-generated tornadoes are great, and they even do a good job with the sound (if you don't have good bass at home, you'll be experiencing a totally different movie), but anyone who knows the first thing about thunderstorms and tornadoes is going to be disappointed. We see all these tornadoes, but where's the wind and rain and hail and all the other stuff that comes along? How can Helen Hunt be out in a thunderstorm wearing a white shirt and it never gets wet? And the idea that people could be sucked into an F5 tornado and survive it by simply hanging on is insane. Tornadoes do a lot of damage, of course, but any thunderstorm strong enough to spawn a tornado is going to do damage of its own, and there's never any of that in this movie. They got the tornadoes right in this movie, but everything else is wrong.

On the other hand, if you don't care about any of that and just want to see the pretty tornadoes, go have fun.
