Summary: Among Jim Carrey's worst & most annoying.
Matthew Broderick stars in a movie that he should have passed up. He plays the hapless young man who gets kicked out of his girlfriend's apartment, moves into his own place, orders cable, where he meets Jim Carrey, the cable guy. This is Carrey's worst role to date, he plays a complete asshole and you really wish that he'd die as the film goes on. The film is torture to watch, and not worth staying for, so keep an eye on those exit doors. It sucks! If it wasn't for Broderick's fine acting skills, I'd give this film an "F".

Summary: Some funny bits, but also annoying
I would have given this movie a lower grade, but the ending helped pull it up a bit. There are some hilarious bits in this (Medieval Times with Janeane as the waitress and Carrey aping Star Trek), but I generally find the concept of annoying guy bugging the crap out of innocent guy just plain stupid. The ongoing trial, though, is a great bit of backstory that unfortunately has to play second fiddle to the sucky main storyline.
The ending, however, does redeem it somewhat-- you almost end up feeling sad for Carrey's character, having no life of his own other than what he sees on TV and what he can leech out of others. Still, it's not really enough to make up for the rest of the movie.

Summary: Not as bad as Ace Ventura 2..but darn close
I'm a fan of matthew broderick, but even I have my limits. This movie was one complete flop. The ending mildly saved it from getting an 'F'. They billed it as a dark comedy, but I think the promoters didn't realize that dark comedies should have more than prat falls and annoying lead characters. I wouldn't characterize this as the worst movie ever..but it's a waste of money even for free.

Summary: Blech. Miss it.
Jim Carrey is his usual over-the-top self. Why build a crappy story around it? Try to build something worth the $3 to rent.
